Storm Behind the Grandeur? Ranbir Kapoor Reportedly Unhappy with SLB

The Trio came together to celebrate SLB’s birthday last year.

Looks like Bollywood’s most intense creative partnership may be facing its toughest chapter yet.
According to acclaimed source, Ranbir Kapoor is far from pleased with the prolonged delays surrounding Bhansali’s ambitious project. What was once envisioned as a 2025 spectacle has now drifted toward 2027  and insiders say the superstar’s patience is wearing thin.

Enough Is Enough”

Known for his disciplined approach in recent years, Ranbir has reportedly grown frustrated with shifting schedules, prolonged shoots, and the uncertainty around release planning. For an actor juggling mega projects and massive brand commitments, a two-year delay is not just inconvenient, It’s disruptive.

An insider whispers:
Ranbir respects Bhansali’s genius, but he doesn’t want to be stuck in endless timelines. He’s thinking long-term.”

Clash of Visions?

Bhansali’s reputation for perfection and elaborate production cycles is legendary. But in today’s box-office battlefield, timing is power. With major tentpole releases on Ranbir’s slate, sources suggest he wanted clarity and fast. Some even speculate that Ranbir pushed firmly for a 2027 release to avoid strategic overlap and protect his broader career roadmap.

A Shift in Power!

What makes this story explosive is the evolving dynamic. Ranbir today is not the newcomer who simply follows a director’s command. He is a box-office force with leverage.
Is this creative friction? Strategic assertion? Or the beginning of a cold professional standoff?
While neither camp has commented publicly, one thing is clear that behind the palatial sets and cinematic spectacle, the drama might be just as grand and real.

The project was initially mounted on a controlled budget of approximately ₹250 crore. However it has now reportedly escalated to nearly ₹400 crore.
Sanjay Leela Bhansali has been shooting Love & War for nearly 1.5 years now, with around 50 days of filming still remaining. Even classics like Mughal e Azam and Titanic did not take this long to complete which makes the prolonged schedule quite surprising. Earlier we reported a 600 crore budget for toxic, even mentioned by pinkvilla recently. For a drama genre such a steep budget overrun is certainly a cause for concern irrespective of how many big faces are associated with the project.

Bhansali’s prolonged and elaborate production approach appears to be affecting more than just timelines. It risks impacting Ranbir Kapoor’s professional positioning at a crucial phase of his career. At the same time, Vicky Kaushal seems to have lost valuable time, especially after the strong theatrical run of Chhaava. With no immediate project reportedly lined up, he remains tied to the completion of this film.

From Christmas 2025 to Eid 2026 then Independence Day rumours, and now 22 January 2027 Republic Day, the mystery of Love and War continues.
