With Jolly LLB 3, Akshay Kumar scores his third success of 2025 with 3 100-cr film this year. The numbers look impressive considering his rough patch over the last 3 years where he managed only one hit out of ten releases.
All 4 of his releases this year did reasonably well, earning a combined domestic box office of about 480 cr and around 130 cr internationally roughly 600 crore in total for 2025. That’s respectable, but it’s not at the pre-COVID level for Akshay Kumar. Despite 4 releases, none of these films reached even 1 crore footfalls, which is worrying sign. With multiple releases, we can’t expect every film to touch 500 cr, but they should be targeting 250–300 cr with good footfalls.
But still this question stands tall that why his big/ good films suffers at box office ?
Akshay’s working style has always been different for the last 35 years. He has consistently released 3 to 4 films every year. With such a pace it’s tough to generate big footfalls with every release yet till the pre-COVID era he consistently delivered decent numbers with each film drawing good footfalls at the box office.
Indian cinema has touched 500 cr domestically and 1000 cr globally in recent years. With every release of Akshay Kumar there’s always an expectation for him to deliver big at the box office simply because he has the potential to do so, right?
Post-COVID: Reasons Why Akshay Kumar Needs to Change His Working Style.
1. Housefull 5 did 165 cr at the box office even with negative reviews because his audience wants proper commercial films from him not social films every three months.
2. Jolly LLB 3 is his 4th release in 9 months and his 7th in the last 19 months. His better work suffers because of these multiple films.
3. There should be a 5 to 6 month gap between releases for good reach. Times have changed since COVID; audiences are now more selective.
4. People aren’t going to theaters because they know the film will be on OTT after a few weeks. Short theatrical windows hurt him even more when he has multiple releases.
5. At the very least, he should stop releasing his films on OTT quickly and maintain a 6 to 8 month gap.
6. Music is also a problem. With a poor soundtrack, his films fail to generate buzz.
7. Promotion may feel wasteful, but awareness still needs to be maintained.
8. He hardly gets involved in his films after shooting is finished, and that’s the main problem. He should monitor a film’s status right up to the release date.
9. Advance, shows, and screens issues keep cropping up every time one of his films is about to be released why does that happen?
He’s making strong films with great performances, and those films deserve hit or superhit status. For major blockbusters, he should change his approach. A superstar should make films for every segment of the audience, but he’s ignoring his core fans by doing social films. And when he did try, the films were so bad that the audience rejected them.

Behind the glossy posters lies pure chaos: endless reshoots, cancelled schedules, casting shake-ups, and a crew left hanging. Insiders whisper that Yash, not Geetu, is calling the shots, ghost-directing large chunks of the movie. His lack of faith in Geetu has reportedly led to clashes that have stalled progress.
For Yash, the pressure is huge. After KGF 2 turned him into a national star, Toxic was meant to secure his legacy. Instead, he seems trapped in paranoia, micromanaging every detail and slowing the film down. His biggest fear is that one flop will reveal his fame as built only on KGF.
Yash seems to be eyeing a path similar to Prabhas. Just like Prabhas’s stardom went pan-India after Baahubali, KGF 2 was Yash’s Baahubali. Now, his next film is crucial to protect his reputation in the pan-india space.

After two major North vs. South clashes in recent times, another big one is lined up for October 2nd with the release of Kantara: Chapter 1 alongside Dharma’sSunny KumariKi Tulsi Kumari. The film is directed by Shashank Khaitan who has previously delivered two hits with Varun Dhawan. With rom-coms in high demand, the industry is expecting nothing less than a solid entertainer.
Another Maddock film releasing this year is THAMA. This biggie is arriving this Diwali, featuring cameos from Stree and Bhediya. THAMA is likely to be the biggest film in Maddock’sHorrorUniverse, with high expectations both in terms of content and box office performance. With the Cop Universe and Spy Universe nearly wrapped up, all eyes are now on the Horror Universe. Currently, the film is slated for a solo Diwali release, highlighting Maddock’s strong position in the industry.
A Star-Studded November Awaitswith love, action and high stakes.
Ajay Devgn’s De De Pyaar De 2 is set to release on 14th November, followed by Farhan Akhtar’s120Bahadur and Anand L. Rai’sTere IshqMein, starring Dhanush and Kriti Sanon.
While DDPD 2 isn’t a big-budget film, one can’t underestimate a rom-com with good music especially with Luv Ranjan involved. However, it will be interesting to see whether audiences accept Ajay Devgn in this role, considering the first installment was only a moderate box office success.
On the other hand, Tere Ishq Mein has the potential to surprise at the box office if the product is strong. Its announcement video had already created a buzz when it was unveiled.
Prabhas Leads, Alpha Follows: December Ends With Fireworks–
December 2025 will kick off with Prabhas’sRajaSaab. While it isn’t a big-budget film, a Prabhas release can still do wonders in the Hindi belt especially with horror films currently in demand.
As of now, Raja Saab is slated for a solo release on 5th December. However, according to a Pinkvilla report, around 50 days of shoot for Dhurandhar is still pending, with filming scheduled to resume next month. The film will most likely be pushed to next year.
Meanwhile, there has been no update on the release of Vishal Bhardwaj’sArjun Ustara, starring Shahid Kapoor in the lead role.
In 2025, Alia Bhatt will close the year with Alpha, where she shares the screen with Sharvari. The film is slated for release on the Christmas weekend. Alpha is part of YRF’s ambitious SpyUniverse, which has been struggling, especially after the disastrous outcome of War 2. For Alia, the film carries even more weight coming off the underwhelming performance of Jigra last year, she is in dire need of a hit. For both Alia Bhatt and YRF, Alpha stands as a do-or-die project.
No Aashiqui 3? Kartik’s Christmas Release Gets a New Identity.
Reports are coming in [though not yet confirmed] that Bhushan Kumar’sAashiqui 3 is set to release on the Christmas weekend, but with a new title, as Bhatt Films reportedly refused to give the Aashiqui title to Kartik- Basu’s film.
Kartik Aaryan returns to the big screen after the blockbuster Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3. It will be interesting to see the outcome of his romantic thriller, especially since he has been struggling outside the BhoolBhulaiyaa franchise. This film is very important for him in the context of his franchise-driven stardom.

As always, Akshay Kumar led the way with a heartfelt tweet. Known for his deep-rooted respect for the armed forces, Akshay’s love for the Indian Army runs in his blood , his father also served the nation. Beyond his numerous donations and patriotic films, Akshay had earlier collaborated with the Indian government to launch the Bharat Ke Veer app, a platform supporting the families of martyred soldiers.
Another big star, Ajay Devgn, who is currently celebrating the success of Raid 2, also voiced his support. Ajay, known for standing with the country in critical times, once again proved he is a real-life Singham.
